SHARH OF
THE 40 HADEETH: HADEETH NUMBER 36
01-12-2012 and 02-12-12 (Night Dars)
HADEETH NUMBER 36:
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (RA), that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: Whoever removes a worldly grief from a
believer, Allah will remove from him one of the grief’s of the Day of Resurrection.
And whoever alleviates the need of a needy person, Allah will alleviate his
needs in this world and the Hereafter. Whoever shields [or hides the misdeeds
of] a Muslim, Allah will shield him in this world and the Hereafter. And Allah
will aid His slave so long as he aids his brother. And whoever follows a path
to seek knowledge therein, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise. No
people gather together in one of the Houses of Allah, reciting the Book of
Allah and studying it among themselves, except that sakeenah (tranquillity)
descends upon them, and mercy envelops them, and the angels surround them, and
Allah mentions them amongst those who are with Him. And whoever is slowed down
by his actions, will not be hastened forward by his lineage.[Sahih Muslim
(4/2074) No. 2699, Sunan Tirmidhi (5/195) No. 2945, Sunan Ibn Majah (1/152) No.
225, Musnad Ahmad (2/252) No. 7421]
WHOEVER REMOVES A WORDLY GRIEF FROM A BELIEVER, ALLAH WILL REMOVE HIS GRIEF
IN THE HEREAFTER
-most of the worldly grieves people suffer are financially related
-either payment of bills, high dowry, health bills etc.
-but Allah said if you remove a worldly grief from a believer He will do same
for you
-this means you have to do to the best of your ability to help the Muslims
Abu Hurayra reported that the Messenger of Allah
(ﷺ) said, “This world is the prison of the believer
and the paradise of the unbeliever.” [Sahih Muslim (4/2272) No. 2956, Musnad
Ahmad (2/323) No. 8272, Sunan Tirmidhi (4/562) No. 2324, Sunan Ibn Majah (5/232)
No. 4113]
Grief is very bad for you to suffer
-because 90% of patients going to a doctor have stress-related problems
Helping a grieved Muslim is important because:
Jarir ibn 'Abdullah reported that the Messenger of
Allah ﷺ said, "If someone does not show mercy to
people, Allah will not show mercy to him."
[Al-Bukhari (7376) and Muslim (2319)]
Abdullah ibn Amr (RA) narrated the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)
said, “Those who are merciful will be given mercy by the Most Merciful. Be
merciful to those on the earth and the One above the heavens will have mercy on
you.”
[Sunan Abu Dawud, Book 40, Hadith #4941]
1. IT CAUSES CANCER
2. IT CAUSES ULCERS
3. IT CAUSES DIABETES
-grief triggers some cells in the body
Prophet Yaqub was stricken with grieve
-and he cried when he lost prophet Yusuf (a.s) until he became blind
So don’t underestimate how lethal grieve is
-who said only a wimp cries?
-to cry is good, it means you are not hard-hearted
Narrated By Anas bin Malik: We went with Allah's
Apostle (ﷺ) to the blacksmith Abu Saif, and he was the
husband of the wet-nurse of Ibrahim (the son of the Prophet). Allah's Apostle ﷺ
took Ibrahim and kissed him and smelled him and later we entered Abu Saif's
house and at that time Ibrahim was in his last breaths, and the eyes of Allah's
Apostle (ﷺ) started shedding tears. 'Abdur Rahman bin 'Auf
said, "O Allah's Apostle, even you are weeping!" He said, "O Ibn
'Auf, this is mercy." Then he wept more and said, "The eyes are shedding
tears and the heart is grieved, and we will not say except what pleases our
Lord, O Ibrahim ! Indeed we are grieved by your separation."[Sahih Bukhari
(2/83) No. 1303]
Abu Zayd Usama ibn Zayd ibn Haritha, the client of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ,
one he loved and the son of one he loved, said, "A daughter of the
Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, sent a message to him saying,
'One of my sons is dying, so come.' He sent his greetings to her and said,
'What Allah takes is His and what He gives is His. Everything has a fixed term
with Him, so she should show fortitude and expect a reward.' She sent to him
imploring him to come to her. He got up with Sa'd ibn 'Ubada, Mu'adh ibn Jabal,
Ubayy ibn Ka'b, Zayd ibn Thabit and some other men, may Allah be pleased with
them. The child was brought to the Messenger of Allah and he was shuddering.
The Prophet's eyes were flowing with tears and Sa'd said, 'Messenger of Allah,
what is this?' He said, 'This is an aspect of mercy which Allah has put in the hearts
of His slaves.'" [Al-Bukhari (1284) and Muslim (923)]
Narrated By Anas bin Malik: The Prophet ﷺ said, "Zaid took over the flag and was
martyred. Then it was taken by Jafar who was martyred as well. Then 'Abdullah
bin Rawaha took the flag but he too was martyred and at that time the eyes of
Allah's Apostle were full of tears. Then Khalid bin Al-Walid took the flag
without being nominated as a chief (before hand) and was blessed with
victory." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 2, Book 23, Hadith #338]
When hurricane Katrina happened a man was crying because he lost his wife
-so who told you men don’t cry
-even prophets cried
4. IT CAUSES AGING
5. IT CAUSES BRAIN TUMOUR
-because the body releases chemicals that trigger this
6. IT CAUSES IMPOTENCE
7. IT CAUSES MIGRIAN HEADACHES
8. HAIR LOST
9. OBESITY
-because of comfort eating
10. ANOREXIA
11. ANXIETY
12. UPSET STOMACH
13. HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE
14. CHEST PAIN
15. INSOMNIA (lack of sleep)
-the kuffaar can’t sleep
-you as a believer you can
16. HEART DISEASES
17. SUBSTANCE ABUSE
-this is done in an attempt to relieve the grief
-when I was in Belmarsh, many prisoners were on drugs
-because prison gives you stress due to separation from your loved ones
-so they use the drugs to numb the grief
-the drugs take them from the world of reality to that of fantasy
By you removing a worldly grieve from a Muslim
-you might be saving him from having cancer
-or save his family and marriage
-so you can’t underestimate what you have done for this brother
When you have the disease of pride in your heart
-it blurs your vision and you can’t see
-or any of the diseases of the heart
So those of you who have the ability to remove a worldly grieve
-from a brother should do so
When you are grieved, your body releases adrenalin
-this is a stress hormone
WHOEVER ALLEVIATES THE LOT OF A NEEDY PERSON ALLAH WILL DO SAME FOR HIM
IN BOTH WORLDS
WHAT ARE THE NEEDS OF PEOPLE?
1. EMOTIONAL NEED
-a need to be loved
-the Prophet (ﷺ) said to be just with kids
((إن الله تعالى يحب
أن تعدلوا بين أولادكم حتى في القبل)) (ابن النجار) عن النعمان بن بشير.
“Allah loves that you be just toward your children even when kissing them.”
(Ibn Al-Najjar) on the authority of Nu'man bin Bashir
[al-Jami' al-Saghir al-Suyuti (1/330) No. 3584, Kanz al-Ummal (16/445)
No. 45348, Classified Daeef by Albani in Daeef al-Jami' al-Saghir (1/247) No.
1712]
Can you imagine a Muslim girl who did not get any love at home?
-she will be vulnerable
Narrated By Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle ﷺ kissed Al-Hasan bin Ali while Al-Aqra' bin Habis At-Tamim was sitting
beside him. Al-Aqra said, "I have ten children and I have never kissed
anyone of them," Allah's Apostle cast a look at him and said,
"Whoever is not merciful to others will not be treated mercifully." [Sahih
Bukhari, Vol 8, Book 73, Hadith #026]
2. FINANCIAL NEED
3. MENTAL NEED
4. SPIRITUAL NEED
-you need this to boost your emaan
-so you need to attend a halaqah
Narrated by Anas ibn Malik (RA) that the Prophet (ﷺ)
said: “No one of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he
loves for himself.” [Al-Bukhari (13) and Muslim (45)]
5. PHYSICAL NEED
-this is of eight categories:
1. FOOD
2. CLOTHING
3. SHELTER
4. TOILETRIES
5. WATER
6. OXYGEN
7. SEXUAL
It was narrated that Sa’eed ibn Jubayr said: Ibn
‘Abbas said to me: “Have you gotten married?” I said: “No.” He said: “Get
married, for the best of this ummah are the ones with the most wives.” [Sahih
Bukhari (7/3) No. 5069]
"...I marry women. Whoever turns away from my
Sunnah is not of me.”
(Sahih al Bukhari (Arabic/English) Vol.7 pg No.1. Sahih-Muslim, English
translation Vol 2 pg 703 No.3236)
8. ENTERTAINMENT
-even the prophet used to be entertained by this man Abdullah
Narrated By 'Umar bin Al-Khattab: During the
lifetime of the Prophet there was a man called 'Abdullah whose nickname was
Donkey, and he used to make Allah's Apostle laugh. The Prophet lashed him
because of drinking (alcohol). And one-day he was brought to the Prophet on the
same charge and was lashed. On that, a man among the people said, "O
Allah, curse him ! How frequently he has been brought (to the Prophet on such a
charge)!" The Prophet said, "Do not curse him, for by Allah, I know
for he loves Allah and His Apostle." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 8, Book 81,
Hadith #771]
-when we laugh, it relaxes us
-we need to be entertained in the halal way
-so you cannot make up jokes about Islam in the name of entertainment
If you ask them (about this), they declare: "We were only talking
idly and joking." Say: "Was it at Allah, and His Ayat (proofs,
evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and His Messenger (ﷺ)
that you were mocking?" (At-Tawbah 9:65)
Make no excuse; you have disbelieved after you had believed. If We pardon some
of you, We will punish others amongst you because they were Mujrimun
(disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals, etc.). (At-Tawbah 9:66)
-you
cannot ridicule Islam
-or the prophet or Allah
-and there is no excuse for this crime
Don’t also tell lies to make people laugh
-the prophet used to be jovial but never lied
When you are entertaining people don’t do so at the expense of others
The Prophet said: “Woe to the one who lies in his
speech to make people laugh, woe to him! woe to him!” (Abu Dawood 4990 &
Tirmidhi 2315)
-don’t dishonour someone with jokes
-not every joke is innocent
The Prophet ﷺ
said: “Let not anyone take his brother’s things (to anger him) seriously or
jokingly.” (Abu Dawood 5003 & Tirmidhi 2160)
So there are rules and guidelines in entertainment
Concerning music
-the scholars differ
-only one classical scholar ibn Hazim made music halal
-there is no other classical scholar who made wind and string instruments halal
-all the 4 imams made it haram
Some people use music as their stress therapy
-your therapy should be Qur'an
Jabir ibn Abdullah (RA) narrated the Messenger
of Allah (ﷺ) said in the Jumu’ah khutbah: "...To proceed.
The best of the speech is embodied in the Book of Allah, and the best of the
guidance is the guidance given by Muhammad. And the most evil affairs are their
innovations; and every innovation is error..." [Sahih Muslim (2/592) No.
867]
Ibn Hazim said most of the hadeeth on music being haram are fabricated
-so he made it halal
-but we say what about the hadeeth in Bukhari
Narrated By Abu 'Amir or Abu Malik Al-Ash'ari:
That he heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "From among my followers there will
be some people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of
silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks and the use of musical instruments, as
lawful. And there will be some people who will stay near the side of a mountain
and in the evening their shepherd will come to them with their sheep and ask
them for something, but they will say to him, 'Return to us tomorrow.' Allah
will destroy them during the night and will let the mountain fall on them, and
He will transform the rest of them into monkeys and pigs and they will remain
so till the Day of Resurrection." [Sahih Bukhari (7/106) No. 5590]
-we all love and respect him but he went on an extreme
-when he branded the hadeeth in Bukhari fabricated
قال شيخ
الإسلام رحمه الله : فدل هذا الحديث على تحريم المعازف ، والمعازف هي آلات اللهو
عند أهل اللغة ، وهذا اسم يتناول هذه الآلات كلها
Shaykh al-Islam (Ibn Taymiyah) (rh) said: This hadeeth indicates that
ma’aazif are haraam, and ma’aazif means musical instruments according to the
scholars of (Arabic) language. This word includes all such instruments. [Majmoo’
al-Fataawa (11/535)]
CONSULT YOUR LOCAL SCHOLARS REGARDING THE HALAL FORMS OF ENTERTAINMENT
WHOEVER HIDES THE SECRET SINS OF A MUSLIM, ALLAH WILL DO THE SAME FOR HIM IN
BOTH WORLDS
-therefore you are not allowed to disgrace a Muslim
-the Muslim community will disintegrate,
-if you are seeking to look out for the sins of each other
-do not celebrate the downfall of each other
Wathila ibn al-Asqa' reported that the Messenger
of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Do not delight in someone else's
misfortune. Allah may have mercy on him and put you to the test.”[Sunan
Tirmidhi (4/662) No. 2506]
There is a lot of hatred among the different sects
-and each one claims paradise for himself only
But they (men) have broken their religion among
them into sects, each group rejoicing in its belief. (Al-Mu'minun 23:53)
The Saudi salafis hate the salafi jihadi
-because they are trying to topple their kaafir pay masters
-they also hate the tabligh
-so because of these hatred people don’t seal the mistakes of each other
-and the worst hatred is religious hatred
The tabloids are controlled by the Jews
-and so any priest who commits paedophilia, it is front page news
-the Jews hate the Catholics because Hitler was
-and so it is impossible to find a catholic as president of USA
MARK OATEN : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Oaten
The rasool (ﷺ) said you should hide the sins of your Muslim brothers
-and not to be like these kuffaar
-who dig up those of their opponents
This type of behaviour is very detrimental to the Muslim
brotherhood/sisterhood
-yet it is very rife in the Muslim community
-because they hate one another
-because they have different aqeeda
You don’t hide the sins of one another if you are not of the same camp
-you behave just like the kuffaar
-to disgrace your opponent
People don’t hide the secret sins of one another
-why should i hide the secrets of my enemy?
Some even approach the MI5 to get rid of you
-because your da’wah is taking away his followers
Spying in Brixton (UK) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfa--DV8Lmo
They want to put all the radical shaikhs in prison
-or get them deported to leave the Muslims at their mercy
-to take them along to the hellfire
-this is the mentality of a mad MADkhali
The Jews will try to disgrace you because you are a salafi jihadi
-or the Christians and Berailvis
-because the truth is ganged up upon
-the creed of the salafi jihadi is the correct aqeeda
-because you believe in al walaa wal baraa, you reject the taghoot, democracy,
-you believe in jihad, Shari’ah, khilafah
-any other aqeeda is zandaqa
People will only shield you if you belong to their aqeeda
-because there is no hatred like religious hatred
-but always remember if you hide the secret sins of a believer
-Allah will do the same for you in both worlds
WHO ARE WE ALLOWED TO EXPOSE?
1. THE HYPOCRITE
-there is no sin in exposing him/her
-they pretend to be Muslims yet gay
2. A CON ARTIST
-if a Muslim approaches you for your opinion with regards another Muslim
-who wants to do joint business with him
-you should speak out to protect your Muslim brother's wealth
3. A WICKED SCHOLAR
-when the man asked imam Malik about a scholar
-he said he is one of the dajjaal from the many dajjaals
-imam Malik was so fluent in Arabic
When Imam Shafi'i was asked about a scholar
-he said he is a pillar from those of lie and deceit
-so they exposed the wicked scholars
3 TYPES OF SCHOLARS:
1. SINFUL
2. WICKED
3. SINCERE
Why did the 2 imams expose the 2 scholars by their names?
-this is the Sunnah of Allah (surah Masad)
-because people will say we don’t know who you are talking about
Perish the two hands of Abû Lahab (an uncle of
the Prophet), and perish he!
(Al-Masad 111:1)
Abu Dhar said, "I was with the Prophet (ﷺ)
one day and I heard him saying: "There is something I fear for my Ummah
than the Dajjal." It was then that I became afraid, so I said: "Oh
Rasool Allah! Which thing is that?" He (ﷺ) said; "Misguided and astray scholars." [Musnad
Ahmad (5/145) No. 21334 and 21335]
4. IN MARRIAGE - CHARACTER REFERENCING
-you should speak the truth if asked for character reference on marriage
-the prophet (saw) knew the current events on the ground
Fatimah bint Qays went to the Prophet ﷺ seeking marital advice when both
Mu’awiyah Ibin Abu Sufyan and Abu Jahm had proposed to her. The Prophet told
her, "Mu’awiyah is stingy and tight fisted) and Abu Jahm beats his
women." So marry Usamah instead. [Sahih Muslim (2/1114) No. 1480, Sunan
Abu Dawud (2/285) No. 2284, Sunan Tirmidhi (3/440) No. 1134, Sunan An-Nasa'i
(6/75) No. 3245]
5. IN BUSINESS
-you can expose a thief in business
…And Allah will aid His slave so long as he aids his brother…
If you
hide the sins of the Muslims, Allah will hide your sins
Half of
the Shari’ah is established on the opposite effect
-what is this?
-it means e.g. if you disgrace a Muslim, Allah will disgrace you in both lives
-and if you hide the sins of a Muslim Allah will hide yours
To remove a harmful thing from the road earns you barakah
-and to put a harmful thing on the road deliberately earns you punishment
Abu Huraira narrated the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)
said: "Faith has over seventy branches or over sixty branches, the most
excellent of which is the declaration that there is no god but Allah, and the
humblest of which is the, removal of what is injurious from the path: and
modesty is the branch of faith." [al-Bukhari (8) and Muslim (56)]
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Verily, Allah, the Exalted and
Glorious, would say on the Day of Resurrection: O son of Adam, I was sick but
you did not visit Me. He would say: O my Lord; how could I visit Thee whereas
Thou art the Lord of the worlds? Thereupon He would say: Didn't you know that
such and such servant of Mine was sick but you did not visit him and were you
not aware of this that if you had visited him, you would have found Me by him?
O son of Adam, I asked food from you but you did not feed Me. He would say: My
Lord, how could I feed Thee whereas Thou art the Lord of the worlds? He said:
Didn't you know that such and such servant of Mine asked food from you but you
did not feed him, and were you not aware that if you had fed him you would have
found him by My side? (The Lord would again say) O son of Adam, I asked drink
from you but you did not provide Me. He would say: My Lord, how could I provide
Thee whereas Thou art the Lord of the worlds? Thereupon He would say: Such and
such of servant of Mine asked you for a drink but you did not provide him, and
had you provided him drink you would have found him near Me. [Sahih Muslim,
Book 32, Hadith #6232]
Many times you give away in charity and somebody else gives you more
-but people are afraid to give charity because they fear poverty
-but Allah will help you if you help your Muslim brother
Allah said:
O you who believe! If you help (in the cause of)
Allāh, He will help you, and make your foothold firm. (Muhammad 47:7)
-to help Allah means to help His course
-e.g. looking after the widows and orphans,
-sending money to the mujahideen, building masjids
Narrated By 'Ubdaidullah Al-Khaulani: I heard
'Uthman bin 'Affan saying, when people argued too much about his intention to
reconstruct the mosque of Allah's Apostle, "You have talked too much. I
heard the Prophet saying, 'Whoever built a mosque, (Bukair thought that 'Asim,
another sub narrator, added, "Intending Allah's Pleasure"), Allah
would build for him a similar place in Paradise.'" [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 1,
Book 8, Hadith #441]
Allah said:
The believers, men and women, are Auliyā'
(helpers, supporters, friends, protectors) of one another, they enjoin (on the
people) Al-Ma'rûf (i.e. Islāmic Monotheism and all that Islām orders one to
do), and forbid (people) from Al-Munkar (i.e. polytheism and disbelief of all
kinds, and all that Islām has forbidden); they perform As-Salāt
(Iqāmat-as-Salāt) and give the Zakāt, and obey Allāh and His Messenger. Allāh
will have His Mercy on them. Surely Allāh is All-Mighty, All-Wise. (At-Tawbah
9:71)
One day the Prophet (ﷺ) said to his companions that the Muslims are like one building
-so we are supposed to help and support each other especially if you can afford
it
-because the money you are saving may not be used by you; you may die early
Abu Musa (RA) reported: ‘Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)
said, “The relationship of the believer with another believer is like (the
bricks of) a building, each strengthens the other.” He (SAW) illustrated this
by interlacing the fingers of both his hands.’
[Al-Bukhari (481) and Muslim (2585)]
-even the kuffaar use their money to save and help people
-they adopt kids and put a smile on their faces
You enjoy your wealth when you share
-how can your conscience allow you to go to bed with billions in your account
-while others are starving
-the lifespan of man is below hundred so how can you spend all that money
Ibn ‘Abbâs narrated: I heard the Messenger of
Allah (ﷺ) saying, “If a son of Adam had a valley full of
gold, he would desire to have two. Nothing can fill his mouth except the dust
(of his grave). Allah turns with mercy to him who turns to Him in repentance.”
[Al-Bukhari (6437) and Muslim (1049)]
'Abdullah bin Ash-Shikhkhir (RA) reported: I came
to the Prophet (ﷺ) while he was reciting (Surah At-Takathur 102):
(After reciting) he (ﷺ) said, "The Son of Adam says: 'My wealth, my
wealth.' But do you get anything (of benefit) from your wealth except for that
which you ate and you finished it, or that which you clothed yourself with and
you wore it out, or that which you gave as Sadaqah (charity) (to those who
deserve it), and that what you will have in stock for yourself." [Sahih
Muslim (4/2273) No. 2958, Sunan Tirmidhi (4/572) No. 2342, Sunan al-Nasa'i
(6/238) No. 3613, Musnad Ahmad (4/26) No. 16370]
...And whoever follows a path to seek knowledge therein, Allah will make easy
for him a path to Paradise...
THE IMPORTANCE OF SEEKING KNOWLEDGE
Then High above all be Allāh, the True King. And be not in haste (O
Muhammad ﷺ) with the Qur'ān before its revelation is
completed to you, and say: "My Lord! Increase me in knowledge." (Ta-Ha 20:114)
-the more you know, the more you realise you don’t know
-the more you realise you don’t know, the more you have the urge to learn
The companions (r.a) used to travel one month for one hadeeth
Qays ibn Kathir reported that a man came to Abu
Darda at Damascus from Madinah. He asked him, “What has brought you here O
Brother. He said “I have come for a hadith which I have learnt that you narrate
from Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ). He asked, “Have you come for no other purpose?’
He said, ‘No!” He asked, “Have you come for some business?” He said, “No! I
have not come except to seek this hadith.”
So, he (Abu Darda (RA) said, “I had heard Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)
say, He who travels on a path in search of knowledge will find that Allah
causes him to travel on a path to Paradise. And the angels will lower their
wings for the pleasure of the seeker of knowledge. And it is for the scholar
that all in the heavens and all on earth seek forgiveness so much so that fish
is the water. And the excellence of a scholar over a worshipper is like the
excellence of the moon over all the stars. The scholars are the heirs of the
Prophet (ﷺ) and the Prophets do not leave dinar or dirham in
legacy. They only leave knowledge. So, he who takes it indeed collects an
abundant good fortune.” [Musnad Ahmad (5/196) No. 21763; Also related by Abu
Dawud (2/341) No. 3641; at-Tirmidhi (5/48) No. 2682; Ibn Majah (1/150) No. 223,
ad-Daarimee (1/110) No. 342 and ibn Hibbaan (1/289) No. 88]
-you should not hide knowledge
-this is harmful and a Jewish quality
Narrated By 'Uthman: The Prophet ﷺ
said, "The best among you (Muslims) are those who learn the Qur'an and
teach it."[Sahih Bukhari, Vol 6, Book 61, Hadith #545]
Allah said:
And when you are told to rise up [for prayers,
Jihād (holy fighting in Allāh's Cause), or for any other good deed], rise up.
Allāh will exalt in degree those of you who believe, and those who have been
granted knowledge. And Allāh is Well-Acquainted with what you do. (Al-Mujadilah
58:11)
Abu Umamah Bahili (RA) reported that Allah’s
Messenger (ﷺ) said: “Surely, Allah, His angels, the inhabitants
of the heavens and the earths, even the ants in their holes and even the fish
invoke blessings on the teacher of the people about what is good.” [Sunan
Tirmidhi (5/50) No. 2685]
"All in the heavens and earth and the fish in
the depth of the water seek forgiveness for the scholar, and the superiority of
the scholar over the worshipper is like the superiority of the full moon at
night over the rest of the stars. Verily the scholars are the heirs to the
Prophets. Verily, the Prophets did not bequeath deenars or dirhams. All they
left behind was knowledge, so whoever takes it, has indeed acquired a huge
fortune." [Musnad Ahmad (5/196) No. 21763; Also related by Abu Dawud
(2/341) No. 3641; at-Tirmidhi (5/48) No. 2682; Ibn Majah (1/150) No. 223,
ad-Daarimee (1/110) No. 342 and ibn Hibbaan (1/289) No. 88]
When prophet Yunus was in the belly of the whale reciting the dua
-the Angels approached Allah to forgive him
-Allah ((سبحانه وتعالىٰ)) said that if he did not make the dhikr
-then he would have stayed in the belly of the whale until the Day of Judgement
Abdullah Ibn Rafi', the freed slave of Umm
Salamah said I heard Abu Hurayrah narrated the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)
said, “When Allah wanted to keep Yunus in the belly of the whale, He revealed
to the whale. He said, “Take him inside but do not eat his flesh nor break his
bones.” When the whale went down to the depth of the sea, Yunus heard a voice,
he said to himself, “What is this?” Then Allah revealed to him, while he was
inside the whale’s belly, that it was glorification of the sea animals. Then
while in that state, Yunus also glorified Allah, which was heard by the angels.
They then said, "O our Lord, we heard a very weak voice coming from
unusual land.” Allah said, “That is My slave Yunus, he disobeyed me, so I
detained him inside a whale in the sea.” They said, “Is he the pious slave from
whom the good deeds ascended to You every day and night?” Allah replied, “Yes”.
So the angels then pleaded on his behalf, so Allah ordered the whale to throw
him out on the shore.” [Tafseer al-Tabari (18/518), Tafseer Ibn Abi Hatim

Is one who is obedient to Allāh, prostrating

"Are those who know equal to those who know not?" It is only men of
understanding who will remember (i.e. get a lesson from Allāh's Signs and

Narrated Muawiya: I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, "If Allah wants to do good to a
person, He makes him comprehend the religion. I am just a distributor, but the
grant is from Allah. (And remember) that this nation (true Muslims) will keep
on following Allah's teachings strictly and they will not be harmed by any one
going on a different path till Allah's order (Day of Judgment) is established."
[Al-Bukhari (71) and Muslim (1037)]
Narrated by Ubai bin Ka'b: The Prophet ﷺ
said, "Once the Prophet Moses stood up and addressed Bani Israel. He was
asked, "Who is the most learned man amongst the people. He said, "I
am the most learned." Allah admonished Moses as he did not attribute
absolute knowledge to Him (Allah). So Allah inspired to him "At the
junction of the two seas there is a slave amongst my slaves who is more learned
than you." Moses said, "O my Lord! How can I meet him?" Allah
said: Take a fish in a large basket (and proceed) and you will find him at the
place where you will lose the fish. So Moses set out along with his (servant)
boy, Yusha' bin Nuin and carried a fish in a large basket till they reached a
rock, where they laid their heads (i.e. lay down) and slept. The fish came out
of the basket and it took its way into the sea as in a tunnel. So it was an
amazing thing for both Moses and his (servant) boy. They proceeded for the rest
of that night and the following day. When the day broke, Moses said to his
(servant) boy: "Bring us our early meal. No doubt, we have suffered much
fatigue in this journey." Moses did not get tired till he passed the place
about which he was told. There the (servant) boy told Moses, "Do you
remember when we betook ourselves to the rock, I indeed forgot the fish."
Moses remarked, "That is what we have been seeking. So they went back
retracing their foot-steps, till they reached the rock. There they saw a man
covered with a garment (or covering himself with his own garment). Moses
greeted him. Al-Khadir replied saying, "How do people greet each other in
your land?" Moses said, "I am Moses." He asked, "The Moses
of Bani Israel?" Moses replied in the affirmative and added, "May I
follow you so that you teach me of that knowledge which you have been
taught." Al-Khadir replied, "Verily! You will not be able to remain
patient with me, O Moses! I have some of the knowledge of Allah which He has
taught me and which you do not know, while you have some knowledge which Allah
has taught you which I do not know." Moses said, "Allah willing, you
will find me patient and I will not disobey you in aught. So both of them set
out walking along the sea-shore as they did not have a boat. In the meantime a
boat passed by them and they requested the crew of the boat to take them on
board. The crew recognized Al-Khadir and took them on board without fare. Then
a sparrow came and stood on the edge of the boat and dipped its beak once or
twice in the sea. Al-Khadir said: "O Moses! My knowledge and your
knowledge have not decreased Allah's knowledge except as much as this sparrow
has decreased the water of the sea with its beak." Al-Khadir went to one
of the planks of the boat and plucked it out. Moses said, "These people gave
us a free lift but you have broken their boat and scuttled it so as to drown
its people." Al-Khadir replied, "Didn't I tell you that you will not
be able to remain patient with me." Moses said, "Call me not to
account for what I forgot." The first (excuse) of Moses was that he had
forgotten. Then they proceeded further and found a boy playing with other boys.
Al-Khadir took hold of the boy's head from the top and plucked it out
with his hands (i.e. killed him). Moses said, "Have you killed an innocent
soul who has killed none." Al-Kha,dir replied, "Did I not tell you
that you cannot remain patient with me?" Then they both proceeded till
when they came to the people of a town, they asked them for food, but they
refused to entertain them. Then they found there a wall on the point of
collapsing. Al-Khadir repaired it with his own hands. Moses said, "If you
had wished, surely you could have taken wages for it." Al-Khadir replied,
"This is the parting between you and me." The Prophet added, "May
Allah be Merciful to Moses! Would that he could have been more patient to learn
more about his story with Al-Khadir." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 1, Book 3,
Hadith #124]
-In the
above hadith the Prophet (ﷺ) encouraged us to travel far and seek knowledge
-Musa, to his own surprise, found this out when he met Al Khidr
-When Allah ((سبحانه وتعالىٰ)) told Musa Al-Khidr had more knowledge than him
-Musa made it his next mission to meet him 'where the two seas meet'
When he met Al-Khidr he asked to be his student
-after travelling very far
Nowadays, we don't have the burden of travel to seek knowledge
-all we have to do is by a laptop, and (e.g.) use Paltalk
-Knowledge comes to us in the comforts of our own rooms
Al Khidr warned Musa IN ADVANCE that he (Musa)
-will never be able to have Sabr with him
-and they eventually did part company on that basis
Musa's sharia was based on the present
-whilst Al-Khidr's sharia was based on the future!
-which was why Al-Khidr eventually fired him
-the rasul (ﷺ) said that if only Musa had sabr
-we would have learned many things from the vast Wisdom of Khidr
...No people gather together in one of the
Houses of Allah, reciting the Book of Allah and studying it among themselves,
except that sakeenah (tranquillity) descends upon them,...
THE IMPORTANCE OF RECITING THE HOLY QURAN
Do they not then think deeply in the Qur'ān, or are
their hearts locked up (from understanding it)? (Muhammad 47:24)
Do they not then consider the Qur'ān carefully? Had it been from other than
Allāh, they would surely have found therein much contradictions. (An-Nisa 4:82)
-Allah ((سبحانه وتعالىٰ)) Is Not The Author of confusion
-hence there are no inconsistencies, incongruities, or far-fetched ness in the
Qur’an
Even Ramadan will intercede for us on the Day of Judgement
'Abdullah ibn 'Amr reported that the Messenger
of Allah (ﷺ), said: "The fast and the Qur'an are two
intercessors for the servant of Allah on the Day of Resurrection. The fast will
say: 'O Lord, I prevented him from his food and desires during the day. Let me
intercede for him.' The Qur'an will say: 'I prevented him from sleeping at
night. Let me intercede for him.' And their intercession will be
accepted." [Musnad Ahmad (2/174) No. 6626, Mustadrak al-Haakim (1/740) No.
2036, Shu'ab al-Eman al-Bayhaqi (3/378) No. 1839]
-a Hafidh will be able to intercede too
Abu Umama said, “I heard the Messenger of Allah
(ﷺ) say, ‘Recite the Qur'an. It will appear on the
Day of Rising as an intercessor for its people.’” [Sahih Muslim (1/553) No.
804]
It was narrated that Buraydah said: “The Prophet (ﷺ)
said: ‘Whoever reads the Qur’an, learns it and acts in accordance with it, on
the Day of Resurrection his parents will be given a crown to wear whose light
will be like the light of the sun, and his parents will be given garments which
far surpass everything to be found in this world. They will say, “Why have we
been given this to wear?” It will be said, “Because your child learned the
Qur’an." [Mustadrak al-Haakim (1/756) No. 2086]
Ibn Mas'ud (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)
said, “Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah, he will be credited
with a good deed, and a good deed gets a ten-fold reward. I do not say that
Alif-Lam-Mim is one letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter and Mim is a
letter.” [Sunan Tirmidhi (5/175) No. 2910]
'A'isha reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)
said, “Someone who recites the Qur'an and is fluent in it is with the noble
pious angels. Someone who recites the Qur'an and stammers in it has two rewards
as it is difficult for him.” [Al-Bukhari (4937) and Muslim (790)]
-Just by
saying "Alif Laaam Meeem" already gains you 30 barakah
-those of us who recite the Quran beautifully will be in the company of Angels
-but those of us who stutter/stammer will get a DOUBLE reward
'Abdullah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'As reported that the
Prophet (ﷺ) said, “It will be said to those who know the
Qur'an, ‘Recite and ascend. Recite slowly as you did in the world below. Your
station will be at the last verse you recite.’” [Sunan Abu Dawud (2/73) No.
1464 and Sunan Tirmidhi (5/177) No. 2914]
'Umar ibn al-Khattab reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) said, “By this Book Allah elevates some people
and abases others.” [Sahih Muslim (1/559) No. 817]
THE QURAN
IS:
-The Best book
-Delivered by the Closest Angel to Allah (swt), Gibril (a.s)
-To His Favourite Prophet Muhammad (saw)
-In the Best language - Arabic
-In the Most Sacred Month - Ramadan
-In the Holiest City – Makkah
Imam Shafi'i (rh) said: "Every Muslim is
obligated to learn the Arabic tongue to the utmost of his power in order [to be
able] to profess through it that "There is no Ilah but Allah and Muhammad
is His Messenger" and to utter what is mandated upon him, the takbir, and
what is commanded, the tasbih, and the tashahhud and others." [Al-Risala
al-Shafi'i (pg. 47)]
Ibn Taymiyyah said: “As for becoming accustomed to talking to one another in a
language other than Arabic, which is the symbol of Islam and the language of
the Qur’aan, so that this becomes a habit in the land, with one’s family and
household members, with one’s friends, in the marketplace, when addressing
government representatives or authority figures or when speaking to people of
knowledge, undoubtedly this is makrooh (disliked), because it involves being
like the non-Arabs, which is makrooh, as stated previously. Hence when the
early Muslims went to live in Syria and Egypt, where the people spoke Byzantine
Greek, and in Iraq and Khurasaan, where the people spoke Farsi, and the Maghrib
(North Africa) where the people spoke Berber, they taught the people of those
countries to speak Arabic, so that Arabic became the prevalent language in
those lands, and all the people, Muslim and kaafir alike, spoke Arabic. Such
was also the case in Khurasaan in the past, then they became lax with regard to
the language and got used to speaking Farsi until it became prevalent and
Arabic was forgotten by most of them. Undoubtedly this is makrooh. The best way
is to become accustomed to speaking Arabic so that the young people will learn
it in their homes and schools, so that the symbol of Islam and its people will
prevail. This will make it easier for the people of Islam to understand the
Qur’aan and Sunnah, and the words of the Salaf, unlike a person who gets used
to speaking one language, then wants to learn another, and finds it difficult.
Know that being used to using a language has a clear and strong effect on one’s
thinking, behaviour and religious commitment. It also has an effect on making
one resemble the early generations of this Ummah, the Sahaabah and Taabi’een.
Being like them improves one’s thinking, religious commitment and behaviour.
Moreover, the Arabic language itself is part of Islam, and knowing Arabic is an
obligatory duty. If it is a duty to understand the Qur’aan and Sunnah, and they
cannot be understood without knowing Arabic, then the means that is needed to
fulfil the duty is also obligatory. There are things which are obligatory on
all individuals (fard ‘ayn), and others which are obligatory on the community
or ummah (fard kifaayah, i.e., if some people fulfil them the rest are relieved
of the obligation). This is the meaning of the report narrated by Abu Bakr ibn
Abi Shaybah who said: ‘Eesa ibn Yoonus told us from Thawr from ‘Umar ibn Yazeed
that ‘Umar wrote to Abu Moosa al-Ash’ari (may Allaah be pleased with him) and
said: ‘learn the Sunnah and learn Arabic; learn the Qur’aan in Arabic for it is
Arabic.’ According to another hadeeth narrated from ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased
with him), he said: ‘Learn Arabic for it is part of your religion, and learn
how the estate of the deceased should be divided (faraa’id) for these are part
of your religion.’ This command of ‘Umar, to learn Arabic and Sharee’ah,
combines the things that are needed, for religion involves understanding words
and actions. Understanding Arabic is the way to understand the words of Islam,
and understanding the Sunnah is the way to understand the actions of Islam…”
[Iqtida' as-Sirat al-Mustaqeem (1/526-528)]
-it is Makrooh to speak in any other language (above hadith)
Concerning the Quran, menstruating women are allowed to touch & read the
Quran
-and any hadith which says otherwise is weak or fabricated
Which (that Book with Allāh) none can touch but the
purified (i.e. the angels).
(Al-Waqi'ah 56:79)
The above Ayah is NOT evidence against menstruating women
-it's talking about ANGELS NOT menstruating women
-that is actually the time a menstruating woman is supposed to read the Quran
-more than any other time owing to not being able to make salah
When you sit in the masjid reciting the Quran
-the Angels (& the good jinn) come to listen, and then supplicate
-on your behalf for Allah (swt)'s Mercy
-every Friday Angels come to listen to the Jumm’ah Khutba
-people get reward in accordance to how early they came to attend
1st: reward of sacrificing a Camel
2nd: reward of sacrificing a cow
3rd: reward of sacrificing a Sheep
4th: reward of sacrificing a chicken
5th: reward of sacrificing an egg
Narrated By Abu Huraira: The Prophet said,
"When it is a Friday, the angels stand at the gate of the mosque and keep
on writing the names of the persons coming to the mosque in succession
according to their arrivals. The example of the one who enters the mosque in
the earliest hour is that of one offering a camel (in sacrifice). The one
coming next is like one offering a cow and then a ram and then a chicken and
then an egg respectively. When the Imam comes out (for Jumua prayer) they (i.e.
angels) fold their papers and listen to the Khutba." [Sahih Bukhari, Vol
2, Book 13, Hadith #051]
You are allowed to recite the Quran in Jamaa’a
-the fitna is: Can we do dhikr in Jamaa’a
-i can't find any evidence to date which says the Sahabah did Dhikr in Jamaa’a
Making dua after the Salah
-where the crowd synchronizes in saying 'Ameen' loudly after every dua
from the Imam
-i can't find ANY EVIDENCE where the Prophet (saw) said so!
-after spending 8 years in University
-Making a group dua loudly after Salah is BIDDAH!
After leading a prayer for the first time in another town
-I DID NOT do the Group Dua
-and it turned out I broke a 300 year tradition!
-and people were offended
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (rh) said: "With regard to the Prophet
(SAW) raising his hands when saying du’aa’, there are many saheeh ahaadeeth
concerning this, but as for his wiping his face with his hands, there are only
one or two hadeeths concerning that, and they cannot be taken as
evidence." [Majmoo’ al-Fataawa (22/519)]
Wiping the face after dua is ALSO a Bid’ah
-shaking the hands of your brother is ALSO a Bid’ah
-reciting the Quran over your dead relatives is ALSO a Bid’ah
-Khatam (dead anniversary) is ALSO a Bid’ah
In my African tour, it turned out the Khatam (Death Anniversary) had its financial
benefits
-i was told not to criticize khatam because this was how the imams made their
money
-they went as far as to tell me that THEY will decide what I speak on
...And whoever is slowed down by his actions, will not be hastened forward
by his lineage…
-your lineage will not save you on judgement day
-don't allow your race and/or tribe to give you delusions of grandeur
-and a superiority complex
O mankind! We have created you from a male and a
female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another.
Verily, the most honourable of you with Allāh is that (believer) who has
At-Taqwa [i.e. one of the Muttaqûn (pious - see V.2:2). Verily, Allāh is
All-Knowing, All-Aware. (Al-Hujurat 49:13)
The Rasool (ﷺ) gathered his family, AS WELL AS THE 'ELITE'
Abu Hurayra said, "When this verse was sent
down, ‘Warn your near relatives,’ (Ash-Shu'ara 26:214), the Messenger of Allah
(ﷺ) summoned Quraysh and they gathered, both the
common people and the elite. He said, ‘O Banu 'Abdu Shams! O Banu Ka'b ibn
Lu'ayy! Save yourselves from the Fire! O Banu Murra ibn Ka'b! Save yourselves
from the Fire! O Banu 'Abdu Manaf! Save yourselves from the Fire! O Banu
Hashim! Save yourselves from the Fire! O Banu 'Abdu'l-Muttalib! Save yourselves
from the Fire! O Fatima! Save yourself from the Fire! I do not possess anything
to help you against Allah other than the fact of your kinship which I will
maintain.’” [Sahih Muslim (1/192) No. 204]
On the authority of Abu Huraira the Messenger of
Allah (ﷺ) said: "Verily Allah does not look to your
bodies nor to your faces but He looks to your hearts," and he pointed
towards the heart with his fingers. [Sahih Muslim (4/1986) No. 2564]
-the above hadiths distinctly addresses those who think
-their lineage will come to their rescue on the Day of Judgement
