TAFSEER SURAH ISRA

Man Is Ungrateful to His Lord

 

16 May 2013 (Morning Dars)

-If you lose the war on the battlefield people are going to shun your ideology.

-When you lose the war on the battlefield your men will be put in concentration camps and your women will be put in rape camps.

-When Makkah fell to the Prophet Muhammad, the people of Makkah abandoned their idols and accepted Islam because their idols could not help them.

-People abandon dodgy ideologies when the kuffaar lose the war on the battlefield.

-This is why Allah commanded you in 9:14 to disgrace kufr.

قَاتِلُوهُمْ يُعَذِّبْهُمُ اللَّهُ بِأَيْدِيكُمْ وَيُخْزِهِمْ وَيَنصُرْكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَيَشْفِ صُدُورَ قَوْمٍ مُّؤْمِنِينَ

Fight against them so that Allāh will punish them by your hands and disgrace them and give you victory over them and heal the breasts of a believing people, (At-Tawbah 9:14)

-When the USSR lost the war against the mujahedeen in Afghanistan, communism fell in Russia.

-Many European countries were liberated such as Poland, Bulgaria and Romania and the Berlin wall came tumbling down.

-Many people with Muslim names in Muslim countries such as Kazakhstan, Albania, Azerbaijan and Afghanistan became communists.

-When communism was humiliated and disgraced in Afghanistan, these people returned to Islam.

-They returned to Islam because the Muslims did what Allah told them to do; they disgraced kufr.

-Even Moulanas believe in democracy now.

-Many ulama believe in ba’athism.

-You need to make up your mind whether you want to be a shaikh or a snake.

-If you are a snake and pass your dodgy fatwas the Muslims are going to take you out.

-You will end up like Sheikh al Bauti who was killed in Syria.

-The Occupy Movement, which started in New York, spread too many cities in the world.

-This means that capitalism is going to fail.

وَقُلْ جَاءَ الْحَقُّ وَزَهَقَ الْبَاطِلُ ۚ إِنَّ الْبَاطِلَ كَانَ زَهُوقًا

And say: "Truth (i.e. Islāmic Monotheism or this Qur'ān or Jihād against polytheists) has come and Bātil (falsehood, i.e. Satan or polytheism, etc.) has vanished. Surely! Bātil is ever bound to vanish." (Al-Isra 17:81)

-It's not an accident that all these manmade isms and schisms are falling.

-Democracy is failing now.

-When Bashr al-Assad falls, it is the beginning of the war because there is going to be a massacre between hizbu Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) and hizbu shaitaan.

-There is going to be a bloodbath between those who believe in democracy and those who believe in Islam.

-The Free Syrian Army believes in democracy and Jabhatan Nusra believes in Islam.

وَنُنَزِّلُ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ مَا هُوَ شِفَاءٌ وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ۙ وَلَا يَزِيدُ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلَّا خَسَارًا

And We send down from the Qur'ān that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe (in Islāmic Monotheism and act on it), and it increases the Zālimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers) nothing but loss. (Al-Isra 17:82)

The Quran is a shifaa (a cure).

-It cures you spiritually from diseases of the heart and Diseases of the heart include racism, nationalism, tribalism, kufr, shirk, hypocrisy and pride.

-When Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) says that the Quran is a cure, Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) is referring to these spiritual diseases.

هُوَ الَّذِي بَعَثَ فِي الْأُمِّيِّينَ رَسُولًا مِّنْهُمْ يَتْلُو عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتِهِ وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَإِن كَانُوا مِن قَبْلُ لَفِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ

He it is Who sent among the unlettered ones a Messenger (Muhammad ﷺ) from among themselves, reciting to them His Verses, purifying them (from the filth of disbelief and polytheism), and teaching them the Book (this Qur'ān, Islāmic laws and Islāmic jurisprudence) and Al-Hikmah (As-Sunnah: legal ways, orders, acts of worship, etc. of Prophet Muhammad SAW). And verily, they had been before in manifest error; (Al-Jumu'ah 62:2)

-The Quran has cured the Awes and Khazraj tribes from the disease of tribalism.

-The Awes and Khazraj tribes were at each other’s throats.

-When the Rasool (ﷺ) took Islam to Madinah, the tribalism and war stopped because the Quran cured them from their asabiyyah.

وَاعْتَصِمُوا بِحَبْلِ اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا وَلَا تَفَرَّقُوا ۚ وَاذْكُرُوا نِعْمَتَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ كُنتُمْ أَعْدَاءً فَأَلَّفَ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِكُمْ فَأَصْبَحْتُم بِنِعْمَتِهِ إِخْوَانًا وَكُنتُمْ عَلَىٰ شَفَا حُفْرَةٍ مِّنَ النَّارِ فَأَنقَذَكُم مِّنْهَا ۗ كَذَٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ آيَاتِهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَ

And hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope of Allāh (i.e. this Qur'ān), and be not divided among yourselves, and remember Allāh's Favor on you, for you were enemies one to another but He joined your hearts together, so that, by His Grace, you became brethren (in Islāmic Faith), and you were on the brink of a pit of Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus Allāh makes His Ayāt (proofs, evidence verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.,) clear to you, that you may be guided. (Al Imran 3:103)

-Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) revealed 3:103 because the Quran cured them.

-The rope of Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) in the above ayah (3:103) means the Quran.

-Not only is the Quran a spiritual cure, it is also a physical cure.

-One day the sahaba were travelling and a leader of a tribe was bitten by a scorpion.

-The man was dying. A sahaba recited Surah Fatiha over the man and cured him.

Some of the companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) passed by some people staying at a place where there was water, and one of those people had been stung by a scorpion. A man from those staying near the water, came and said to the companions of the Prophet (prayers and peace be upon him) , "Is there anyone among you who can do Ruqya as near the water there is a person who has been stung by a scorpion." So one of the Prophet's (prayers and peace be upon him) companions went to him and recited Surat-al-Fatiha for a sheep as his fees. The patient got cured and the man brought the sheep to his companions who disliked that and said, "You have taken wages for reciting Allah's Book." When they arrived at Medina, they said, -O Allah's Apostle! (This person) has taken wages for reciting Allah's Book." On that Allah's Apostle ﷺ said, "You are most entitled to take wages for doing a Ruqya with Allah's Book."

[Sahih Bukhari Hadith (Volume 7, Number 633) Narrated Ibn 'Abbas (other narrations say snake or scorpion)]

-A Jew in Madinah by the name of Labeeb ibn Aasim worked magic on the Prophet

-The Prophet ﷺ thought he had sexual relations with his wife when he did not.

-The Jew tied 11 knots with the pollen of a date tree with a comb and the hair stuck to it and planted them in a well.

-Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) revealed the last two surahs of the Quran which also have 11 ayahs altogether.

-The Prophet ﷺ sent Ali to fetch the knots that were tied.

-The Prophet ﷺ recited the last two surahs of the Quran over the knots.

-He then untied the knots and the magical spell was lifted.

The Prophet ﷺ continued for such-and-such period imagining that he has slept (had sexual relations) with his wives and in fact he did not. One day he said, to me, “O ‘Aisha! Allah has instructed me regarding a matter about which I had asked Him. There came to me two men, one of them sat near my feet and the other near my head. The one near my feet, asked the one near my head (pointing at me), ‘What is wrong with this man? The latter replied, ‘He is under the effect of magic.’ The first one asked, ‘Who had worked magic on him?’ The other replied, ‘Lubaid bin Asam.’ The first one asked, ‘What material (did he use)?’ The other replied, ‘The skin of the pollen of a male date tree with a comb and the hair stuck to it, kept under a stone in the well of Dharwan.”‘Then the Prophet ﷺ went to that well and said, “This is the same well which was shown to me in the dream. The tops of its date-palm trees look like the heads of the devils, and its water looks like the Henna infusion.” Then the Prophet ﷺ ordered that those things be taken out. I said, “O Allah’s Apostle! ﷺ Won’t you disclose (the magic object)?” The Prophet said, “Allah has cured me and I hate to circulate the evil among the people.” ‘Aisha added, “(The magician) Lubaid bin Asam was a man from Bani Zuraiq, an ally of the Jews.” [Sahih Bukhari, Volume 8, Book 73, Number 89]

The Mu’tazilites and the Shiites don't accept this hadith and call it fabricated.

They say we are slandering the Prophet ﷺ and ask how Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ)  can allow the Prophet to be affected by black magic.

We refute them by saying that Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) allowed it to happen to teach the Muslims how to use the Quran to cure themselves from magical spells.

Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) said that they can't harm anyone with their black magic except by His will.

وَزَوْجِهِ ۚ وَمَا هُم بِضَارِّينَ بِهِ مِنْ أَحَدٍ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ ۚ وَيَتَعَلَّمُونَ مَا يَضُرُّهُمْ وَلَا يَنفَعُهُمْ ۚ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمُوا لَمَنِ اشْتَرَاهُ مَا لَهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ مِنْ خَلَاقٍ ۚ وَلَبِئْسَ مَا شَرَوْا بِهِ أَنفُسَهُمْ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ

But they could not thus harm anyone except by Allāh's Leave. And they learn that which harms them and profits them not. And indeed they knew that the buyers of it (magic) would have no share in the Hereafter. And how bad indeed was that for which they sold their own selves, if they but knew. (Al-Baqarah 2:102)

The hadith about the man who was poisoned by a scorpion and the hadith about the Prophet (ﷺ) being affected by black magic are proof that the Quran is a cure

The people could have used the knowledge that the angels, Harut and Marut, brought for good or bad but they chose to use it for bad.

The man charged a fee to recite Surah Fatiha over the man who was poisoned.

You are allowed to charge a fee to recite the Quran.

It is allowed in the madhab of Imam Shafi to ask for a fee for teaching the Quran.

The evidence for this is that a woman proposed to the Prophet (ﷺ) but the Prophet (ﷺ) was not in need of a wife at that moment.

A sahaba asked to marry her if the Prophet (ﷺ) didn’t wish to himself.

The man didn't even have an iron ring to offer her as dowry.

It was decided that the dowry would be for him to teach her from his knowledge of the Quran.

Sahl ibn Sad Saidi (RA) reported that a woman came to Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) and said, “I submit myself to you”. Then, she stood for a long time. A man said, “0 Messenger of Allah, marry me to her, if you do not need her”. He said, “Do you have anything to give her (by way of dower)?’ He said, “I have nothing but this lower wrapper of the body”. So, Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “If you give it to her then you will sit and have no lower garment on you. So, look out for something else”. He said, “I do not find”. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Search, even if you find an iron ring”. He said, “I sought but could not find anything”. So, Allah’s Messenger asked him, “Do you have with you anything of the Qur’an?” He said, “Yes, That surah, and that surah. So Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “I marry you, to her with what you have of the Qur’an”. [Tirmidhi, Ahmed, Bukhari, Muslim, Nisai]

Four people are increased in loss by the Quran:

1) A kaafir who is adamant in his kufr

2) A munaafiq (hypocrite)

3) The murtad (apostate)

4) The zindeeq (heretic)

-The proof that the Quran only increases the munafiq in loss is 9:124

وَإِذَا مَا أُنزِلَتْ سُورَةٌ فَمِنْهُم مَّن يَقُولُ أَيُّكُمْ زَادَتْهُ هَٰذِهِ إِيمَانًا ۚ فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا فَزَادَتْهُمْ إِيمَانًا وَهُمْ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ

And whenever there comes down a Sûrah (chapter from the Qur'ān), some of them (hypocrites) say: "Which of you has had his Faith increased by it?" As for those who believe, it has increased their Faith, and they rejoice. (At-Tawbah 9:124)

-Each time a surah comes down, kufr is added to kufr for a munafiq because they keep rejecting the surah.

-All the sincere scholars of Islam use 9:124 as evidence that our imaan increases and decreases.

وَإِذَا أَنْعَمْنَا عَلَى الْإِنسَانِ أَعْرَضَ وَنَأَىٰ بِجَانِبِهِ ۖ وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ كَانَ يَئُوسًا

And when We bestow Our Grace on man (the disbeliever), he turns away and becomes arrogant, far away from the Right Path. And when evil touches him he is in great despair. (Al-Isra 17:83)

-The nature of man is that when he is enjoying the barakah of Allah: health, wealth, big houses and pretty women, he becomes proud, arrogant, ostentatious and haughty.

-Man likes to be boastful with his wealth. This is why there is such a thing as designer clothing.

-He practices conspicuous consumption; he buys to show off his wealth.

-You already have a BMW and a Mercedes Benz but you buy a Ferrari just to show off.

-Man even forgets that Allah exists.

He says (boastfully): "I have wasted wealth in abundance!" (6) Thinks he that none sees him? (7) (Al-Balad 90:6-7)

-This ayah (90:6) is proof that man likes to show off with his wealth.

-Man likes to show off when Allah blesses him with barakah, but what did Luqman say to his son when he was grooming him to become a daee?

-The answer to this question is found in 31:18.

وَلَا تُصَعِّرْ خَدَّكَ لِلنَّاسِ وَلَا تَمْشِ فِي الْأَرْضِ مَرَحًا ۖ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ كُلَّ مُخْتَالٍ فَخُورٍ

"And turn not your face away from men with pride, nor walk in insolence through the earth. Verily, Allāh likes not each arrogant boaster. (Luqman 31:18)

-Only Allah has the right to be proud as one of Allah's 99 names is al Mutakabbir.

-As long as you go to the toilet or menstruate you can't be proud.

-As long as you need food, drink and sleep you can't be proud.

-All these things are called human weaknesses.

-As long as you are going to become old, geriatric and impotent you can't be proud.

وَمَن نُّعَمِّرْهُ نُنَكِّسْهُ فِي الْخَلْقِ ۖ أَفَلَا يَعْقِلُونَ

And he whom We grant long life, We reverse him in creation (weakness after strength). Will they not then understand? (Ya-Sin 36:68)

-Surah 36:38 is clear evidence that you are once a man but twice a child because with old age you become a baby again.

-As long as you are created from a gushing despicable fluid, you can't be proud.

-A doctor in the UK killed 500 of his patients with morphine.

-There was no outcry because when people become old, it is difficult to look after them.

-The children of these people were happy with what the doctor was doing because they wanted to inherit their parents’ property.

And you devour inheritance all with greed, (19) And you love wealth with much love! (20) (Al-Fajr 89:19-20)

-Your love for wealth is insatiable.

-The heads of people were being chopped off in Saudi Arabia for smuggling drugs into the kingdom.

-They couldn't resist smuggling drugs because of their love of wealth.

-When a calamity befalls man, he despairs.

-You are not a kaafir so whenever a calamity befalls you, you can't despair.

يَا بَنِيَّ اذْهَبُوا فَتَحَسَّسُوا مِن يُوسُفَ وَأَخِيهِ وَلَا تَيْأَسُوا مِن رَّوْحِ اللَّهِ ۖ إِنَّهُ لَا يَيْأَسُ مِن رَّوْحِ اللَّهِ إِلَّا الْقَوْمُ الْكَافِرُونَ

"O my sons! Go you and enquire about Yûsuf (Joseph) and his brother, and never give up hope of Allāh's Mercy. Certainly no one despairs of Allāh's Mercy, except the people who disbelieve." (Yusuf 12:87)

-No one despairs of Allah's Mercy except the kuffaar; it is kufr to despair.

-You are not allowed to commit suicide because you are a Muslim and you believe that the promise of Allah in 94:5-6 is true.

So verily, with the hardship, there is relief, (Ash-Sharh 94:5)

Verily, with the hardship, there is relief (i.e. there is one hardship with two reliefs, so one hardship cannot overcome two reliefs). (Ash-Sharh 94:6)

-Allah repeated Himself because after every one difficulty comes two ease.

قُلْ كُلٌّ يَعْمَلُ عَلَىٰ شَاكِلَتِهِ فَرَبُّكُمْ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنْ هُوَ أَهْدَىٰ سَبِيلًا

Say (O Muhammad ﷺ to mankind): "Each one does according to Shakilatihi (i.e. his way or his religion or his intentions, etc.), and your Lord knows best of him whose path (religion, etc.) is right." (Al-Isra 17:84)

-This ayah is telling you that the behaviour of a man is shaped by his creed or ideology.

-Hitler used to kill people because his ideology was that the Aryan was the superior race and that every other race was inferior.

-Hitler's ideology was his motivation.

-It is important that a person should have the right creed because your character is influenced by your creed.

-Half a million Muslims picked up weapons, went into Afghanistan and defeated the Soviet Union because they were motivated by 4:76.

الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا يُقَاتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ۖ وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا يُقَاتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ الطَّاغُوتِ فَقَاتِلُوا أَوْلِيَاءَ الشَّيْطَانِ ۖ إِنَّ كَيْدَ الشَّيْطَانِ كَانَ ضَعِيفًا

Those who believe fight in the Cause of Allāh, and those who disbelieve, fight in the cause of Tāghût (Satan, etc.). So fight you against the friends of Shaitān (Satan); Ever feeble indeed is the plot of Shaitān (Satan). (An-Nisa 4:76)

-Your creed influences your character and behaviour.

-This is why the Prophet (ﷺ) said that he was sent for no reason except to give us perfect character.

Abu Huraira narrated the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "I was sent to perfect good character." [Al-Adab al-Mufrad al-Bukhari, No. 273, Muwatta Malik (2/75) No. 1885, Musnad Ahmad (2/381) No. 8939, Mustadrak al-Haakim (2/670) No. 4221]

-Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) said that He knows which religion is the right religion in 17:84.

فَتَقَطَّعُوا أَمْرَهُم بَيْنَهُمْ زُبُرًا ۖ كُلُّ حِزْبٍ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ فَرِحُونَ

But they (men) have broken their religion among them into sects, each group rejoicing in its belief. (Al-Mu'minun 23:53)

-One of the signs of the Last Day is that people will split the religion up into different groups and everyone is happy with their dodgy beliefs.

-Even the Qadiyaani who believes that Mirza Ghulam Ahmed is a prophet is happy with his ideology.

-The goofy Sufi who believes that Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) is everywhere happy with his dodgy ideology.

-The Barelvi who believes that the Prophet ﷺ is alive in his grave and that you can pray to the Prophet is happy with his ideology.

-Even the Shia who believes the Quran is corrupted and that the sahabas are kuffaar is happy with his dodgy ideology.

-The only correct creed on the face of the earth is the creed of the Salafi Jihadi.

-If you are not a Salafi Jihadi, you are either a munafiq (hypocrite), a murtad (apostate) or a zindeeq (heretic).

-If you are not a Salafi Jihadi, you are not on the correct creed.

-Because Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) will decide who follows the right religion and who follows the wrong religion, Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) said that Judgment Day is Yaum al Fasl (the Day of Decision)

إِنَّ يَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَاتًا

Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, (An-Naba 78:17)

The only religion Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) will accept on Judgment Day is Islam.

وَمَن يَبْتَغِ غَيْرَ الْإِسْلَامِ دِينًا فَلَن يُقْبَلَ مِنْهُ وَهُوَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ

And whoever seeks a religion other than Islām, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter, he will be one of the losers. (Al Imran 3:85)

-Everyone is claiming that their religion is the correct religion, but the only religion Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) will accept on Judgment Day is Islam.

-Within the Muslim community there are many groups and they are at each other’s throats

-The only group with the correct Aqeedah is the Salafi Jihadi group.

-Every other group has strayed.

-The Saudi Salafis have strayed because they believe to dismantle Allah's (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) shariah is a minor kufr.

-Ibn Katheer and ibn Taymiyyah said that it is the ijma of all the Muslims that whosoever dismantles Allah's (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) shariah has committed a major kufr.

Ibn Taymiyyah (rh) said: “And it is known from the religion (of Islam) by necessity and by the consensus of all Muslims that whoever legalizes to follow other than the religion of Islam or a Shariah other than the Shariah of Muhammad (SAWS), he is a Kaafir. And his kufr is similar to that of the one who believes in some part of the book (Quran) and reject some of it.” [Majmua al-Fataawa (28/524)]

Ibn Kathir (rh) said: “So whosoever abandons the wise Shariah which was revealed upon Muhammad ibn Abdullah, the seal of the prophets, and goes to other abrogated Shariah for judgment, he becomes a Kaafir. So how about the one who goes to al-Yaasiq (man-made law) for judgment and gives it precedence (over the Shariah of Muhammad (SAWS) Whosoever does this has become a Kaafir by the Ijma of the Muslims.” [Al-Bidayah Wan-Nihayah, (Vol. 13, p119)
