 TAFSEER SURAH ISRA

THERE IS NO COMFORT IN THE TRUTH

(EXCEPT FOR THOSE WHO ARE SINCERE)

ذَٰلِكَ جَزَاؤُهُم بِأَنَّهُمْ كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِنَا وَقَالُوا أَإِذَا كُنَّا عِظَامًا وَرُفَاتًا أَإِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ خَلْقًا جَدِيدًا

That is their recompense, because they denied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and said: “When we are bones and fragments, shall we really be raised up as a new creation?”(Al-Isra 17:98)

The above ayah is like surah 79:10-12

يَقُولُونَ أَإِنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِي الْحَافِرَةِ

 

They say: “Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? (An Nazi’at 79:10)

أَإِذَا كُنَّا عِظَامًا نَّخِرَةً

 

“Even after we are crumbled bones?” (An Nazi’at 79:11)

 

قَالُوا تِلْكَ إِذًا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٌ

 

They say: “It would in that case, be a return with loss!”(An Nazi’at 79:12)

-They are admitting that their return would be a return with loss because they did not do good deeds when they were in the dunya.

-Therefore, their return to their Maker will be a return with great loss if there is a day called Judgments Day.

-They did every haram under the heavens.
-They even had gay churches.
-They lied about Iraq having weapons of mass destruction.
-They invaded Iraq and there were no such weapons.
-They bombed the apartments of Moscow, blamed it on the mujahideen and used it as an excuse to invade Chechnya.

-They allow incest; they allow a father to date his own daughter.
-They allow animal brothels in Denmark.
-They make everything, which is haram, halal.

-So they admit that if there is a day called Judgments Day they will be sure losers.

-In the dunya they were nothing but human devils.

-You question Allah’s (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) ability to bring you back to life and say it is farfetchedness. Who told you that you are allowed to question the ability of Allah?
-Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) told you that the creation of the heavens and the earth and what they contain is more complicated than the creation of man in 40:57.

وَإِذْ يَتَحَاجُّونَ فِي النَّارِ فَيَقُولُ الضُّعَفَاءُ لِلَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا إِنَّا كُنَّا لَكُمْ تَبَعًا فَهَلْ أَنتُم مُّغْنُونَ عَنَّا نَصِيبًا مِّنَ النَّارِ

The creation of the heavens and the earth is indeed greater than the creation of mankind, yet most of mankind know not. (Ghafir 40:57)

-If Allah can recreate the heavens, what makes you think that Allah can’t recreate you?

Allah told us as story in surah 2:259

أَوْ كَالَّذِي مَرَّ عَلَىٰ قَرْيَةٍ وَهِيَ خَاوِيَةٌ عَلَىٰ عُرُوشِهَا قَالَ أَنَّىٰ يُحْيِي هَٰذِهِ اللَّهُ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا ۖ فَأَمَاتَهُ اللَّهُ مِائَةَ عَامٍ ثُمَّ بَعَثَهُ ۖ قَالَ كَمْ لَبِثْتَ ۖ قَالَ لَبِثْتُ يَوْمًا أَوْ بَعْضَ يَوْمٍ ۖ قَالَ بَل لَّبِثْتَ مِائَةَ عَامٍ فَانظُرْ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِكَ وَشَرَابِكَ لَمْ يَتَسَنَّهْ ۖ وَانظُرْ إِلَىٰ حِمَارِكَ وَلِنَجْعَلَكَ آيَةً لِّلنَّاسِ ۖ وَانظُرْ إِلَى الْعِظَامِ كَيْفَ نُنشِزُهَا ثُمَّ نَكْسُوهَا لَحْمًا ۚ فَلَمَّا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُ قَالَ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Or like the one who passed by a town and it had tumbled over its roofs. He said: “Oh! How will Allah ever bring it to life after its death?” So Allah caused him to die for a hundred years, then raised him up (again). He said: “How long did you remain (dead)?” He (the man) said: “(Perhaps) I remained (dead) a day or part of a day”. He said: “Nay, you have remained (dead) for a hundred years, look at your food and your drink, they show no change; and look at your donkey! And thus We have made of you a sign for the people. Look at the bones, how We bring them together and clothe them with flesh”. When this was clearly shown to him, he said, “I know (now) that Allah is Able to do all things.”(Al-Baqarah 2:259)

-A man passed by a town, which was derelict with his donkey.
-He asked how Allah can bring the town back to life after its death.
-Allah caused this man to sleep for 100 years.
-He was later asked how long he had slept for and he replied that he had been sleeping for half a day.

-He assumed he had only been sleeping for half a day because his food was still intact.
-His donkey was dead because he had slept for such a long time.

-People like to comfort themselves by saying Judgment Day is a myth because they are know they are breathtakingly evil. 
-This is the mentality of man; he likes to give himself false hope.

 

-Surah 36:81-83 is another argument that Allah is putting towards those who have doubts about the resurrection.

 

أَوَلَيْسَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ بِقَادِرٍ عَلَىٰ أَن يَخْلُقَ مِثْلَهُم ۚ بَلَىٰ وَهُوَ الْخَلَّاقُ الْعَلِيمُ

Is not He, Who created the heavens and the earth Able to create the like of them? Yes, indeed! He is the All-Knowing Supreme Creator. (Ya-Sin 36:81)

إِنَّمَا أَمْرُهُ إِذَا أَرَادَ شَيْئًا أَن يَقُولَ لَهُ كُن فَيَكُونُ

 

Verily, His Command, when He intends a thing, is only that He says to it, “Be!” and it is! (Ya-Sin 36:82)

فَسُبْحَانَ الَّذِي بِيَدِهِ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ

So Glorified is He and Exalted above all that they associate with Him, and in Whose Hands is the dominion of all things, and to Him you shall be returned. (Ya-Sin 36:83)

 

-The reason why they doubt the resurrection is because they doubt Allah’s Power.
-The heavens and the earth are more complicated than man is.
-Asking how Allah (ﷺ) can bring you back to life is a ridiculous question.
-Man thinks if he lives believing in the day of Resurrection, he is making life difficult for himself.

-This is because this will cause him to live a life of mental depression.
-He’s a pedophile and a gay; he’s everything evil.
-This is why he gives himself false hope.

-There is absolutely no comfort in the truth.

-Even if a man goes to a shop and buys himself a pair of shoes and he asks you for your opinion on it, he wants you to tell him that they look nice, even if this is not your honest opinion.
-People kill the prophets because there is no comfort in the truth.

وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ وَقَفَّيْنَا مِن بَعْدِهِ بِالرُّسُلِ ۖ وَآتَيْنَا عِيسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ الْبَيِّنَاتِ وَأَيَّدْنَاهُ بِرُوحِ الْقُدُسِ ۗ أَفَكُلَّمَا جَاءَكُمْ رَسُولٌ بِمَا لَا تَهْوَىٰ أَنفُسُكُمُ اسْتَكْبَرْتُمْ فَفَرِيقًا كَذَّبْتُمْ وَفَرِيقًا تَقْتُلُونَ

And indeed, We gave Mûsa (Moses) the Book and followed him up with a succession of Messengers. And We gave ‘Iesa (Jesus), the son of Maryam (Mary), clear signs and supported him with Rûh-ul-Qudus [Jibrael (Gabriel)]. Is it that whenever there came to you a Messenger with what you yourselves desired not, you grew arrogant? Some, you disbelieved and some, you killed.(Al-Baqarah 2:87)

Only a sincere believer finds comfort in the truth.

So whosoever does good equal to the weight of an atom (or a small ant), shall see it. (Az-Zalzalah 99:7)

And whosoever does evil equal to the weight of an atom (or a small ant), shall see it.(Az-Zalzalah 99:8)

-The truth is that there is a day called the Day of Judgment when we have to face our Maker.

-On Judgement Day, you will be held accountable for your deeds, whether it is an atom of good or an atom of bad.

-People don’t want to hear about that.

-They say that religious personalities use Judgement Day to scare people.

-People want to hear that Judgement Day is a myth because there is absolutely no comfort in the truth.

-You are trying to put limits on the powers of Allah by asking how you can be resurrected.
-You, the kuffaar, didn’t give Allah the respect he deserves.

وَمَا قَدَرُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ إِذْ قَالُوا مَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَىٰ بَشَرٍ مِّن شَيْءٍ ۗ قُلْ مَنْ أَنزَلَ الْكِتَابَ الَّذِي جَاءَ بِهِ مُوسَىٰ نُورًا وَهُدًى لِّلنَّاسِ ۖ تَجْعَلُونَهُ قَرَاطِيسَ تُبْدُونَهَا وَتُخْفُونَ كَثِيرًا ۖ وَعُلِّمْتُم مَّا لَمْ تَعْلَمُوا أَنتُمْ وَلَا آبَاؤُكُمْ ۖ قُلِ اللَّهُ ۖ ثُمَّ ذَرْهُمْ فِي خَوْضِهِمْ يَلْعَبُونَ

They (the Jews, Quraish pagans, idolaters, etc.) did not estimate Allāh with estimation due to Him when they said: “Nothing did Allāh send down to any human being (by inspiration).” Say (O Muhammad (ﷺ)): “Who then sent down the Book which Mûsa (Moses) brought, a light and a guidance to mankind which you (the Jews) have made into (separate) paper sheets, disclosing (some of it) and concealing (much). And you (believers in Allāh and His Messenger Muhammad (ﷺ)), were taught (through the Qur’ān) that which neither you nor your fathers knew.” Say: “Allāh (sent it down).” Then leave them to play in their vain discussions. (Tafsir Al-Qurtubī, Vol.7, Page 37). (Al-An’am 6:91)

Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) repeated this in surah 22:74.

مَا قَدَرُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَقَوِيٌّ عَزِيزٌمَا قَدَرُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَقَوِيٌّ عَزِيزٌ

They have not estimated Allāh His Rightful Estimate; Verily, Allāh is All-Strong, All-Mighty. (Al-Hajj 22:74)

-By them denying the Day of Resurrection, it means they are limiting the powers of Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ).
-The modus operandi of the kaafir is to put limits on the Power of Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ).
-They deny Judgement Day because they are human devils.

-They cheat on their wives with men, not women.
-The media turns them into low life scums of the earth.

-Because they have become human devils, they can’t believe in Judgments Day; they won’t be able to sleep.

-They’ll have to live their lives on antidepressant tablets.

-The only way for them to be able to go to sleep is to deny the Day of Judgments.
-Not only did they deny the Day of Judgments; they even deny the existence of Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ).
-By denying the existence of Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ), they are worse that Iblis himself.

This is because in Surah 15:36 the shaitaan declared that: 

1. Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) is his One and Only Lord.
2. There is a day called the Day of Resurrection.
3. There is life after death.

قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرْنِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ

[Iblīs (Satan)] said: “O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day they (the dead) will be resurrected.” (Al-Hijr 15:36)

You, the kaafir, when you deny the existence of Allah and the Day of Resurrection, you are worse than the Satan himself.

أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا أَنَّ اللَّهَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ قَادِرٌ عَلَىٰ أَن يَخْلُقَ مِثْلَهُمْ وَجَعَلَ لَهُمْ أَجَلًا لَّا رَيْبَ فِيهِ فَأَبَى الظَّالِمُونَ إِلَّا كُفُورًا

See they not that Allāh, Who created the heavens and the earth, is Able to create the like of them. And He has decreed for them an appointed term, whereof there is not doubt. But the Zālimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.) refuse (the truth the Message of Islāmic Monotheism, and accept nothing) but disbelief. (Al-Isra 17:99)

-Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) said that there is no doubt about the Day of Resurrection.
-This is why one of the many names of Judgments Day is al Haqqah (The Reality)

The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! (1) What is the Reality? (2) And what will make you know what the Reality is? (3) Thamûd and ‘Ad people denied the Qāri’ah [the striking Hour (of Judgments)] (4) As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! (5) And as for ‘Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; (6) (Al-Haqqah 69:1-6)

-Another name for Judgment Day is al Waqiah (The Inevitable)

When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. (1) And there can be no denying of its befalling. (2) It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; (3) When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake.(4) (Al-Waqi’ah 56:1-4)

-Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) said that the dhalimoon refused to accept the message and they continued in their disbelief.

-Allah is talking about a special type of kaafir, the kaafir who is rebellious to Quran and Sunnah and refuses to listen to the message.
-Some kuffaar will embrace Islam.
-If every kaafir is rebellious, how can Islam be the fastest growing religion in the world?

-Surah 61:9 is proof that some kuffaar will embrace Islam.

 

هُوَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُ بِالْهُدَىٰ وَدِينِ الْحَقِّ لِيُظْهِرَهُ عَلَى الدِّينِ كُلِّهِ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ

He it is Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad (ﷺ)) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islāmic Monotheism) to make it victorious over all (other) religions even though the Mushrikûn (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allāh and in His Messenger Muhammed SAW) hate (it).(As-Saff 61:9)

In this ayah, Allah promised Islam a brilliant future.

The second evidence that some kuffaar will embrace Islam is surah 98:1.

لَمْ يَكُنِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ وَالْمُشْرِكِينَ مُنفَكِّينَ حَتَّىٰ تَأْتِيَهُمُ الْبَيِّنَةُ

Those who disbelieve from among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) and among Al-Mushrikûn, were not going to leave (their disbelief) until there came to them clear evidence.(Al-Baiyinah 98:1)

-The Jews, the Christians and the pagans will never relinquish their kufr until you, the Muslims, take the bayyinah to them.
-This is evidence that not all the hearts of the kuffaar are sealed.
-Although all of their hearts are not sealed, the majority of the hearts of the kuffaar are sealed.

-The evidence for this is surah 12:103

And most of mankind will not believe even if you desire it eagerly. (Yusuf 12:103)

-Allah told you that the majority of hearts are sealed.

REASONS WHY THE MAJORITY OF HEARTS ARE SEALED

REASON 1 – THEY ARE ADDICTED TO THEIR EVIL AND CORRUPTED DESIRES

Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) warned you about them in surah 45:23.

وَمَا أَكْثَرُ النَّاسِ وَلَوْ حَرَصْتَ بِمُؤْمِنِينَ

Have you seen him who takes his own lust (vain desires) as his ilāh (god), and Allāh knowing (him as such), left him astray, and sealed his hearing and his heart, and put a cover on his sight. Who then will guide him after Allāh? Will you not then remember? (Al-Jathiyah 45:23)

REASON 2 – BLIND FOLLOWING OF THEIR PARENTS

The evidence for this is surah 2:170.

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ اتَّبِعُوا مَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ قَالُوا بَلْ نَتَّبِعُ مَا أَلْفَيْنَا عَلَيْهِ آبَاءَنَا ۗ أَوَلَوْ كَانَ آبَاؤُهُمْ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ شَيْئًا وَلَا يَهْتَدُونَ

When it is said to them: “Follow what Allāh has sent down.” They say: “Nay! We shall follow what we found our fathers following.” (Would they do that!) Even though their fathers did not understand anything nor were they guided? (Al-Baqarah 2:170)

REASON 3 – THE PRIDE AND ARROGANCE OF JAHILIYYA

The evidence for this is surah 48:26.

إِذْ جَعَلَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فِي قُلُوبِهِمُ الْحَمِيَّةَ حَمِيَّةَ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَأَنزَلَ اللَّهُ سَكِينَتَهُ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِ وَعَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَأَلْزَمَهُمْ كَلِمَةَ التَّقْوَىٰ وَكَانُوا أَحَقَّ بِهَا وَأَهْلَهَا ۚ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمًا

When those who disbelieve had put in their hearts pride and haughtiness the pride and haughtiness of the time of ignorance, then Allāh sent down His Sakinah (calmness and tranquillity) upon His Messenger ((ﷺ)) and upon the believers, and made them stick to the word of piety (i.e. none has the right to be worshipped but Allāh), and they were well entitled to it and worthy of it. And Allāh is the All-Knower of everything. (Al-Fath 48:26)

-Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) spoke about the pride and arrogance of jahilyyah, which is in the hearts of the kuffaar.
-There are a lot of people that hang on to their false religion all because of the pride and arrogance of jahiliyyah.

قُل لَّوْ أَنتُمْ تَمْلِكُونَ خَزَائِنَ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّي إِذًا لَّأَمْسَكْتُمْ خَشْيَةَ الْإِنفَاقِ ۚ وَكَانَ الْإِنسَانُ قَتُورًا

Say (to the disbelievers): “If you possessed the treasure of the Mercy of my Lord (wealth, money, provision, etc.), then you would surely hold back (from spending) for fear of (being exhausted), and man is ever miserly!” (Al-Isra 17:100)

-The tafseer of this ayah is that Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) is in control of mercy, wealth and provisions and that if Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) puts these things in the hands of man, he will refuse to give it to others because he is stingy by nature.

-Canada and Australia are big countries with small populations.
-There is hardly anyone living in Saudi Arabia and it is a big country.
-The Muslims are worse than the kuffaar with their stinginess.
-Canadians and Australians will give you citizenship. 

-You could live in Saudi Arabia for 30 years and they won’t give you citizenship.
-You can’t marry a woman from Saudi Arabia.
-They don’t want to share their resources with you.
-Man by nature is stingy.
-Man by nature hates to give; he wants everything for himself.

-You have seen children in Africa with big bellies and flies in their eyes and we have a lot of billionaires in the world.
-How can these billionaires go to sleep with a clear conscience after seeing images of these children?
-The answer is that man by nature is greedy and it is not on his agenda to give.

-What is Carlos Slim doing with 90 million?
-If a magazine publishes the richest men in the world and their name is not mentioned, they ring up the magazine and complain.
-Prince Waleed bin Talal complained when his name was not published in a magazine as one of the richest men.

-When someone dies people fight over his wealth.

Ibn ‘Abbâs narrated: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying, “If a son of Adam had a valley full of gold, he would desire to have two. Nothing can fill his mouth except the dust (of his grave). Allah turns with mercy to him who turns to Him in repentance.” [Al-Bukhari (6437) and Muslim (1049)]

-One of the characteristics of a munafiq is that he doesn’t give and even when he does give, it is a burden for him to do so.

 

وَمَا مَنَعَهُمْ أَن تُقْبَلَ مِنْهُمْ نَفَقَاتُهُمْ إِلَّا أَنَّهُمْ كَفَرُوا بِاللَّهِ وَبِرَسُولِهِ وَلَا يَأْتُونَ الصَّلَاةَ إِلَّا وَهُمْ كُسَالَىٰ وَلَا يُنفِقُونَ إِلَّا وَهُمْ كَارِهُونَ

And nothing prevents their contributions from being accepted from them except that they disbelieved in Allāh and in His Messenger (Muhammad (ﷺ)); and that they came not to As-Salāt (the prayer) except in a lazy state; and that they offer not contributions but unwillingly. (At-Tawbah 9:54)

-They hate to give sadaqah.

-The other surah about stinginess is surah 107.

Have you seen him who denies the Recompense? (1) That is he who repulses the orphan (harshly), (2) And urges not the feeding of Al Miskīn (the poor), (3) (Al-Ma’un 107:1-3)

-When a person is a disbeliever and he doesn’t believe in the Day of -Recompense it causes him to become stingy.
-He also doesn’t look after his parents.
-They put their parents in old age homes in Europe and America.
-It is difficult to look after parents.

-One of the signs of the Last Day is that sadaqah will be a burden on the people.

-Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) speaks about stinginess in surah 92:5-10.

As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allāh and fears Him, (5) And believes in Al-Husna. (6) We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). (7)But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. (8) And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote); (9) We will make smooth for him the path for evil; (10) (Al-Lail 92:5-10)

-The husna that Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) is talking about in surah 92:9 is belief in the shahada.

-Surah 36:47 was revealed regarding Abu Bakr.

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ أَنفِقُوا مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ اللَّهُ قَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَنُطْعِمُ مَن لَّوْ يَشَاءُ اللَّهُ أَطْعَمَهُ إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا فِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ

And when it is said to them: “Spend of that with which Allāh has provided you,” those who disbelieve say to those who believe: “Shall we feed those whom, if Allāh willed, He (Himself) would have fed? You are only in a plain error.” (Ya-Sin 36:47)

-Abu Bakr was feeding poor people. 
-Abu Jahl asked Abu Bakr, “wouldn’t Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) feed these poor people if He wanted?”
-Abu Bakr replied that Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) would have fed them if He wanted.
-Abu Jahl asked Abu Bakr why he is feeding them if Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) would have if He wanted. 

-Abu Bakr answered that those who have wealth should help those that are in need.
-Abu Jahl said he will never accept Islam because if he embraces Islam he is going to be told to spend his money on poor people.
-Abu Jahl died as a kaafir.

Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)  as saying: Verily, Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, would say on the Day of Resurrection: O son of Adam, I was sick, but you did not visit Me. He would say: O my Lord; how could I visit Thee whereas Thou art the Lord of the worlds? Thereupon He would say: Didn’t you know that such and such servant of Mine was sick but you did not visit him and were you not aware of this that if you had visited him, you would have found Me by him? O son of Adam, I asked food from you but you did not feed Me. He would say: My Lord, how could I feed Thee whereas Thou art the Lord of the worlds? He said: Didn’t you know that such and such servant of Mine asked food from you but you did not feed him, and were you not aware that if you had fed him you would have found him by My side? (The Lord would again say:) O son of Adam, I asked drink from you but you did not provide Me. He would say: My Lord, how could I provide Thee whereas Thou art the Lord of the worlds? Thereupon He would say: Such and such of servant of Mine asked you for a drink but you did not provide him, and had you provided him drink you would have found him near Me. (Sahih Muslim Book 032, Hadith Number 6232)

Another ayah where Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) talks about stinginess is surah 47:38.

هَا أَنتُمْ هَٰؤُلَاءِ تُدْعَوْنَ لِتُنفِقُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَمِنكُم مَّن يَبْخَلُ ۖ وَمَن يَبْخَلْ فَإِنَّمَا يَبْخَلُ عَن نَّفْسِهِ ۚ وَاللَّهُ الْغَنِيُّ وَأَنتُمُ الْفُقَرَاءُ ۚ وَإِن تَتَوَلَّوْا يَسْتَبْدِلْ قَوْمًا غَيْرَكُمْ ثُمَّ لَا يَكُونُوا أَمْثَالَكُم

Now, you are these called to expend in the way of Allah. Then among you (some) are miserly; and whoever is miserly, then he is miserly only upon himself. And Allah is the Ever-Affluent, (Literally: Ever-Rich) and you are the poor ones. And in case you turn away, He will (readily) exchange you for another people; thereafter they will not be your likes. (Muhammad 47:38)

If you turn away from Islam, Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) will exchange you for other people.
They won’t be low life scrums of the earth like you.
They won’t refuse to spend in the path of Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ).
Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) will exchange you for others if you don’t do your duties to Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ).

Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) told you in the Quran the nature of man in surah 70:19-22.

Verily, man (disbeliever) was created very impatient; (19) Irritable (discontented) when evil touches him; (20) And when charity touches him, (he is) a constant preventer of it (21) Except those devoted to Salat (prayers).(22) (Al-Ma’arij 70:19-22)

The Quran is the greatest book of psychology because it tells you the mentality of man.

Ibn Abbas said that the reason why a man is a miser is because he fears poverty. This man is not convinced that Allah will multiply his sadaqah by 10 and give it back to him. One of the signs of the last day is that people will stop paying zakah. Man is miserable when harm touches him and when Allah blesses him with wealth he refuses to give charity.

When Abu Bakr became the caliph, the first thing people abandoned was not the salah or hajj; the first thing they abandoned was zakah.
Abu Bakr fought these people and that war was called huroob ar-Riddah (war against the apostates).

They were apostates because they denied one of the pillars of Islam.
The first thing people abandoned when the Prophet (ﷺ) died was paying the zakah because man by nature is stingy.

Allah (سبحانه وتعالىٰ) told you that man by nature is stingy in surah 17:100

قُل لَّوْ أَنتُمْ تَمْلِكُونَ خَزَائِنَ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّي إِذًا لَّأَمْسَكْتُمْ خَشْيَةَ الْإِنفَاقِ ۚ وَكَانَ الْإِنسَانُ قَتُورًا

Say (to the disbelievers): “If you possessed the treasure of the Mercy of my Lord (wealth, money, provision, etc.), then you would surely hold back (from spending) for fear of (being exhausted), and man is ever miserly!”(Al-Isra 17:100)
