THE SEALED NECTAR
[42 LESSONS FROM THE SLANDER OF AISHA (RA)]
42 LESSONS Continues...
23.
WHEN YOU ARE A LEADER OF AN UMMAH AND YOU FACE CRISES, CONSULT YOUR LOVED
ONES FOR ADVICE
-when the rumour broke the prophet consulted 2
Sahabah
-Usama ibn Zaid and Ali ibn Abi Talib, the former took her side
...Usama bin Zaid told Allah's Apostle of what
he knew about the innocence of his wife and of his affection he kept for her.
He said, "O Allah's Apostle! She is your wife, and we do not know anything
about her except good." But 'Ali bin Abi Talib said, "O Allah's
Apostle! Allah does not impose restrictions on you; and there are plenty of
women other than her. If you however, ask (her) slave girl, she will tell you
the truth."...[Sahih Bukhari, Vol 6, Book 60, Hadith #274]
-but Ali did not and many historians say that
made her take up arms against him
-you are not allowed to believe this because it is an allegation
-Aisha fought Ali because he delayed punishing those who killed Uthman
-and we have to go along with what Aisha said
-we do not take our religion from Shi'ites because they slander themselves
24. WHEN YOU HURT
A MAN'S WIFE, YOU HURT THE HUSBAND, AS WELL
-the prophet gathered the companions in the
masjid
-and told them somebody slandered my wife
-and I do not see anything negative about them
-the Sahabah said kill him (the one that spread the slander)
This teaches us that if you hurt a wife you hurt the husband and vice versa
-because they are emotionally attached to each
other
-and this was the motive of Abdullah ibn Ubayy
25. THE SHAITAN
RUNS IN OUR VEINS THE WAY BLOOD RUNS IN OUR VEINS
-because when the rumour spread, Sad ibn Muadh
said to the prophet
-if the man is from my tribe I will kill him
-but if from al Khazraj then command me and I will do it
-quarrel was about to break in the masjid, in the name of tribalism
-this caused Aisha to feel very bad
-this proves to us shaytan runs in our veins
Sad bin Muadh Al-Ansari got up and said, "O
Allah's Apostle! By Allah, I will relieve you from him. If he be from the tribe
of (Bani) Al-Aus, then I will chop his head off; and if he be from our
brethren, the Khazraj, then you give us your order and we will obey it."
On that, Sad bin 'Ubada got up, and he was the chief of the Khazraj, and before
this incident he had been a pious man but he was incited by his zeal for his
tribe. He said to Sad (bin Muadh), "By Allah the Eternal, you have told a
lie! You shall not kill him and you will never be able to kill him!" On
that, Usaid bin Hudair, the cousin of Sad (bin Muadh) got up and said to Sad
bin 'Ubada "You are a liar! By Allah the Eternal, we will surely kill him;
and you are a hypocrite defending the hypocrites!" So the two tribes of
Al-Aus and Al-Khazraj got excited till they were on the point of fighting with
each other while Allah's Apostle was standing on the pulpit. [Sahih Bukhari,
Vol 6, Book 60, Hadith #274]
You have to be careful of Asabiyya: racism, tribalism, nationalism
-the shaytan almost succeeded in causing the
Sahabah to fight because of it
26. THE SHAITAN
HAS ABILITY TO USE ASABIYYA TO SPLIT THE UMMAH
-because the rasul said there are 4 things my
Ummah will never give up
Abu Malik al-Ashari narrated the Prophet (SAW)
said: ”There are four matters of jaahiliyyah that exist among my ummah and they
will not give them up: boasting about one’s forefathers, casting aspersions
upon people’s lineages, seeking rain by the stars and wailing for the dead.”
[Sahih Muslim (Vol. 2 pg. 644) No. 934]
27. WHEN YOU HURT
A MUSLIM, YOU HURT OTHER MUSLIMS
-Aisha's best friend cried with her because she
was hurt too
...On that day I kept on weeping so much that
neither did my tears stop, nor could I sleep. In the morning my parents were
with me, and I had wept for two nights and a day without sleeping and with
incessant tears till they thought that my liver would burst with weeping. While
they were with me and I was weeping, an Ansari woman asked permission to see
me. I admitted her and she sat and started weeping with me...[Sahih Bukhari,
Vol 6, Book 60, Hadith #274]
28. BEFORE YOU START A CONVERSATION GIVE SALAAMS FIRST
29. BE SLOW TO ACCUSE AND SWIFT TO FORGIVE
30. WHEN YOU ARE IN A CRISIS, SEEK AN AYAH FROM AL-QUR'AN TO GUIDE YOU
-when Aisha was in crises she quoted an ayah
from the Qur'an
-she said I will say what the father of Yusuf (AS) said
And they brought his shirt stained with false blood. He said: "Nay, but
your own selves have made up a tale. So (for me) patience is most fitting. And
it is Allah (Alone) Whose help can be sought against that which you
assert." (Yusuf 12:18)
...'Aisha said, "By Allah, I find no example
for my case except that of Joseph's father (when he said), 'So (for me)
patience is most fitting.' " Then Allah revealed the ten Verses:
"Verily those who spread the slander are a gang amongst you..." (24.11)
[Sahih Bukhari, Vol 6, Book 60, Hadith #212]
-'patience is most befitting for me', this
proves her scholasticism
-she quoted an ayah then put her trust in Allah
-this is what you should do
31. NO ONE CAN
HELP US EXCEPT ALLAH TALA; PUT YOUR TRUST IN HIM
So verily, with the hardship, there is relief,
(Ash-Sharh 94:5)
32. THE RASOOL (SAW) HAD EMOTIONS LIKE EVERYONE ELSE
33. SOMETIMES DELAYING A MATTER IS A WISE THING TO DO
-some of us will be a hand's length from
paradise but will enter hell
On the authority of 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (RA), who
said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)
narrated to us: By Allah, other than whom there is no god, verily one of you
behaves like the people of Paradise until there is but an arm's length between
him and it, and that which is written overtakes him and so he behaves like the
people of the Hell-fire and thus he enters it; and one of you behaves like the
people of Hell-fire until there is but an arm's length between him and it, and
that which has been written overtakes him and so he behaves like the people of
Paradise and thus he enters it. [al-Bukhari (6594) and Muslim (2643)]
34. OUR TAQWAH
WILL SAVES US FROM CALAMITY AND CATASTROPHE
Aisha further said: Allah's Apostle ﷺ also asked Zainab bint
Jaysh about my case. He said, "O Zainab! What have you seen?" She
replied, "O Allah's Apostle! I protect my hearing and my sight (by
refraining from telling lies). I know nothing but good (about Aisha)." Of
all the wives of Allah's Apostle, it was Zainab who aspired to receive from him
the same favor as I used to receive, yet, Allah saved her (from telling lies)
because of her piety. But her sister, Hamna, kept on fighting on her behalf so
she was destroyed as were those who invented and spread the slander. [Sahih
Bukhari, Vol 6, Book 60, Hadith #274]
-this is important for Muslim women, they think
polygamy is a war
-and the women of today would jump to slander their co-wife
-because they live in darul harb, you need to live in darul Islam
We need to teach the lives of the prophet's wives
-so the women of today can learn taqwa
35. POLYGAMY IS
NOT WAR
-women come to relationships to break up the man
from his first wife
-but polygamy is not war
36. DO NOT
INTERFERE IN THE AFFAIRS OF OTHERS
-Hamnah bint Jash thought if she got Aisha out
of the way
-the affection of the prophet will go to her sister, Zainab bint Jash
-but she did not ask anybody to fight battles for her because polygamy is not
war
On the authority of Abu Hurairah, who said: The
Messenger of Allah said “A sign of one’s excellence in his Islam, is ignoring
what does not concern him.” [Tirmidhi 2318, Ibn e Majah 3976, Ahmed 1737,
Al-Muwatta 1604]
-a woman cooked for a co-wife because she gave
birth
-this would not happen in darul harb, they will poison her
-this is what darul harb causes
37. SOMETIMES
REVELATIONS COME DOWN IN PIECE MEAL
-to solve problems that the prophet encountered
-just like when Aisha was slandered
-the prophet did not know what to do
-until Allah revealed the ayah
Verily! Those who brought forth the slander
(against 'Aishah the wife of the Prophet SAW) are a group among you. Consider
it not a bad thing for you. Nay, it is good for you. Unto every man among them
will be paid that which he had earned of the sin, and as for him among them who
had the greater share therein, his will be a great torment. (An-Nur 24:11)
38. WHEN ALLAH
TALA LOVES YOU, HE TESTS YOU
-the bigger the love the bigger the test
Anas (RA) reported that the Prophet (ﷺ)
said, ”A mighty reward is associated with a large affliction. Indeed, when
Allah loves a people, He afflicts them in trial. Thus, he who is pleased, for
him is (His) pleasure, and as for him who is angry, for him is displeasure.”
[Tirmidhi 2396, Ibn e Majah 4031]
Mus’ab ibn Sa’d reported on the authority of his father (Sad [RA]) that he
asked, “O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, which
people will face trials most?” He said, “The Prophets, then the likes, then the
likes. A man is tried according to his religion. If he is firm on his religion
then the trial is severe and if he is soft in observing his religions then he
is tried according to his religion. Then, the trial does not remove from the
slave till he walks over earth having no sin on him.” [Tirmidhi 2398, Ibn e
Majah 4023, Ahmed 1607]
39. A HYPOCRITE
LIKES TO SLANDER A BELIEVER
-whenever this happens there is no point in
forgiving him
-because the prophet did not forgive them
-they like to slander people because they are jealous of your deen and they
have no character
-they also steal the money of the believers and you are to expose them
40. THERE ARE TIMES WHEN WE MUST BE PURIFIED
41. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PURIFY A MUNAFIQH
-this is why the prophet did not flog them, but
he flogged the believer’s instead
-leave the munafiq to Allah
42. A GOOD FRIEND
DOES NOT KICK YOU WHEN YOU ARE DOWN
-when Aisha was slandered one of her best
friends was crying with her
-giving her moral support
